Quranic Vocab

26Aug09

So everytime ramadhan comes,  I have this dilemma of wanting to spend most of my time finish reading Quran as many as I could versus to have a real deep tadabbur in each ayah and still able to finish reading it, which the latter would have a longer impact on myself even after ramadhan ends but not as “time efficient” as the first one, given the fact that ramadhan only lasts for 30 days and you will get irritated when your friends could finish reading Quran 3 or 4 times.

So I remembered my Quranic Vocab that has been sitting on my Desktop for quite sometime which I think would do some relief to my problem. At least I can go over the Surah’s vocab first then when I read the Quran I can get roughly the picture of what the Surah talks about.

If you’re having the same problem try the solution. See if it helps.

“you will get irritated when your friends could finish reading Quran 3 or 4 times”…..are you maybe, missing the point?…..Why do we keep Ramadhan?—Because God asked us to.
Why would God, the compassionate, the merciful, ask us to do this?–because he created us and is thus intimately familiar with our “human natures”. When he guides us to the path of spirituality—the guidance is one that is best suited to our “natures”.
How does this lead to spirituality? at its most basic level–it teaches us empathy and compassion—essential building blocks for spirituality. At the next level, it teaches us “detachment” from the material/EGO/desires. We can understand spirituality only if we overcome EGO. At a more higher level, it teaches us about God-awareness. When we are aware that God is always close to us, that we are always connected to God, and that it is only a matter of us being aware of this fact or not, —when we understand this, we are able to conduct ourselves in our daily lives in a God-aware manner–where we are constantly consciouss of the presence of God……Ramadhan is not about how the other guy did…but how we did—-are we a better person than last year?
